MAKATI CITY, Philippines — Casa Charlie is introducing a new boutique hotel concept near Makati’s business district that combines thoughtful design, practical comfort, and affordable accommodations with a warm, welcoming atmosphere for today’s travelers.

The property opened in July 2025 and currently operates 30 rooms as part of its first phase. It is expected to expand to 50 rooms next year, with a restaurant scheduled to open in the coming months.

The hotel was developed with the goal of offering well-designed accommodations at an accessible price point. Located close to Makati’s business district, Casa Charlie serves business travelers, professionals, visitors from the provinces, overseas Filipinos, and leisure guests looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay.

More than simply providing a place to sleep, Casa Charlie was designed around the idea of making guests feel comfortable and at home. Its warm aesthetic, thoughtful interiors, and most especially the friendliness and helpfulness of its staff are central to the experience the hotel hopes to create.

“We wanted to create a hotel that people could enjoy without spending beyond their budget," shared one of the founders. "The focus has always been on making guests feel comfortable and at home."

A Hotel Inspired by Travel

The name Casa Charlie was inspired by boutique accommodations in Mexico, where many converted homes are known as "Casa." The hotel is named after the founder's grandfather, Charlie, reflecting the property's welcoming and personal atmosphere.

The interiors feature natural materials, warm colors, wood finishes, and solihiya details that highlight Filipino craftsmanship. The founders personally sourced many of the furnishings and worked on the overall design, drawing inspiration from their travels and interest in interior design.

Every element contributes to the property's home-like character. Rather than pursuing a highly formal hotel experience, Casa Charlie aims to create spaces where guests can settle in comfortably and feel welcomed throughout their stay.

Finding Its Market

Casa Charlie was initially envisioned for backpackers and digital nomads traveling through Manila. After opening, the hotel found a strong customer base among business travelers, particularly because of its proximity to Makati’s business district.

Many guests return regularly for work, while others stay for medical appointments, document processing, or short visits to Metro Manila. Business travelers now account for the majority of the hotel's guests.

At the same time, the hotel has found that its warm atmosphere and attentive service are important parts of what bring guests back. The management team continues to listen closely to guest feedback, using reviews and suggestions to improve the property and its operations.

Building the Business

Launching the hotel required careful planning and resource management. Working within a limited budget meant that every design and operational decision had to be carefully considered. The founders also learned the day-to-day requirements of hotel operations while establishing new systems and procedures.

To strengthen operations, Casa Charlie partnered with Approche Hospitality Management. The collaboration has provided operational support and helped improve the guest experience while allowing the founders to focus on growing the business.

Looking Ahead

Casa Charlie plans to complete its expansion in Makati before exploring opportunities in other destinations across the Philippines. The founders see potential for the brand in emerging leisure destinations where boutique accommodations continue to attract travelers seeking locally inspired stays.

As the property approaches its first anniversary, Casa Charlie continues to refine its offerings while building a reputation as a boutique hotel that places comfort, thoughtful design, and genuine hospitality at the heart of the guest experience.
