Art is officially breaking free from traditional frames. As contemporary homes shift away from flat, sterile walls in favor of rich textures and organic surfaces, interior design and fine art are blending into the exact same conversation. Today, a wall isn't just a partition—it’s an anchor for a room's entire identity.

Sinclair The New Generation Paint is tapping into this architectural shift with its 2026 National Art Competition, inviting local creatives to swap standard canvas for structural surfaces.
Running through December 31, 2026, the nationwide competition encourages artists to experiment with building materials like decorative lime plaster and specialized effect paints. Instead of treating a wall as a neutral backdrop, the goal is to push the medium further, letting texture, depth, and shadow tell a broader story.
The initiative centers on two distinct creative directions. The first, Representational Obra, focuses on figurative storytelling built around local culture and community identity. The second, Wall Obra, leans into abstract installations designed to reshape modern living spaces, letting raw material and movement take center stage.
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of local artists, gallery professionals, and educators. Winners will be announced during National Arts Month in February 2027, taking home cash awards, product kits, and a national platform to showcase their work to both the art and design communities.
"Innovation doesn’t just happen in a lab—it thrives through creativity," notes Derrick A. Tan, President and CEO of Magna Prime Chemical Technologies. "By connecting material technology with local talent, we want to give Filipino artists new ways to transform everyday surfaces."
Beyond celebrating craftsmanship, the project reflects a growing desire to make art an integrated part of where people live, work, and gather. By turning architectural finishes into creative mediums, the initiative offers local creators a fresh way to leave a lasting impression on the built environment.
Complete contest mechanics, eligibility requirements, and entry forms are hosted on Sinclair's official web portal (www.sinclair.com.ph).
