In a significant step towards enhancing the tourism experience in the Philippines, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco recently met with Hipolito "Tony" B. A key aspect of the meeting was the integration of DOT's Tourist Rest Area designs with SMHCโ€™s Barrier-Free and Environmentally Sustainable Toilet (B.E.S.T) initiative. This project aims to improve restroom facilities across tourist destinations, ensuring clean and accessible amenities. By addressing sanitation and convenience for travelers, the partnership underscores a commitment to enhancing the overall tourism experience in the country.

Secretary Frasco expressed strong support for SMHC's proposals, emphasizing the benefits this partnership will bring not only to the tourism industry but also to the general public by promoting sustainable infrastructure.

The partnership between the DOT and SMHC, which began in 2019, currently includes 34 DOT-accredited Petron Rest Areas nationwide. With future expansion in sight, both entities aim to promote world-class facilities for tourists, aligning with the countryโ€™s goal of sustainable tourism growth.

The presence of key officials from both parties reflects their dedication to building a better Philippines by developing improved infrastructure and enhancing the tourism experience for travelers exploring the country.
