The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has ramped up its operational preparedness across all 44 CAAP-managed airports in anticipation of a significant influx of travelers during the upcoming Yuletide season.

In line with the Department of Transportation's (DOTr) "Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024," the CAAP's efforts are aimed at ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience for passengers. The program will run from December 20, 2024, to January 3, 2025.

CAAP Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo emphasized that the agency is committed to providing the highest standards of safety, security, and convenience during this busy period. "We are working closely with our partners and implementing stringent measures to make sure passengers have a seamless experience this holiday season," Tamayo said.

To support travelers, Malasakit help desks will be set up at all airports, alongside increased presence of security personnel and medical teams. The CAAP is coordinating with the DOTr, local authorities, and key agencies—including the Police Aviation Security Unit, Office of Transportation Security, Department of Tourism, Civil Aeronautics Board, and airline operators—to streamline check-in processes and improve efficiency.

The CAAP also reminded passengers to adhere to travel regulations, including the prohibition of certain items and the importance of keeping track of personal belongings. In addition, travelers are urged not to make bomb jokes, as such actions can disrupt flights and lead to arrests.

In recent years, the number of passengers during the holiday season has surged. In December 2022, the CAAP recorded 2 million passengers, a significant increase compared to the 785,910 passengers during the January peak period. Last year, 2.4 million passengers traveled in December, with 2.3 million recorded in January.
