Celebrating Nation Builders: Honoring Leaders in Sustainability

LEADERS from diverse sectors were celebrated for their contributions to sustainable development and nation-building during the Nation Builders and MOSLIV Awards, held at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila. Organized by Sustainability Standards, Incorporated (SSI), the awards recognized individuals and organizations driving societal progress and sustainability across the Philippines. 

The MOSLIV Awards—short for “Most Sustainable and Liveable”—aims to rally Filipinos to contribute to the global pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), fostering resilience, equity, and climate neutrality.  

"We are almost halfway through the UN SDG 2030 Agenda. Despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve emerged stronger and more prepared to address future obstacles," said SSI President and CEO Kenneth Rocete in his opening remarks. 

He emphasized the importance of honoring those who are leading efforts to create a greener and more inclusive society. A Night of Recognition and Inspiration The awards celebrated the achievements of public servants, philanthropists, business leaders, and modern heroes from various fields. 

Honorees were recognized for their outstanding efforts in governance, community development, and sustainability. Among the notable “Awarded Local Chief Executive of the Year” recipients were:

● Meycauayan City, Bulacan – Mayor Henry R. Villarica 

● Malabon City – Mayor Jeannie N. Sandoval 

● Kidapawan, North Cotabato – Mayor Jose Paulo M. Evangelista 

● Cotabato City, Maguindanao – Mayor Mohammad Ali “Bruce” C. Matabalao 

● Guiguinto, Bulacan – Atty. Agatha Paula A. Cruz 

● Asingan, Pangasinan – Engr. Carlos F. Lopez, Jr. 

● Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat – Mayor Joenime B. Kapina 

● Mapandan, Pangasinan – Mayor Karl Christian F. Vega 

● Del Carmen, Surigao Del Norte – Mayor Alfredo M. Co. II

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., in his message, congratulated the honorees and underscored the significance of a whole-of-nation approach to sustainability. "Achieving the UN SDGs requires collective effort, from policymaking to responsible energy consumption. These honorees exemplify what it means to prioritize the well-being of our people while fostering growth and equity," the President stated. 

The event also highlighted the contributions of private sector leaders who have championed innovation and social impact, as well as media personalities who have used their platforms to inspire positive change. Figures like Mark Dela Rosa of NET25 and Mr. John Gemperle (Papa Jackson) of 106.7 EnergyFM Manila were recognized for their influence in their respective fields. 

A Commitment to Sustainability The Nation Builders and MOSLIV Awards serve as a reminder of the shared responsibility to ensure a sustainable and liveable future. By recognizing the achievements of individuals and organizations, SSI hopes to inspire more Filipinos to join the global fight against climate change and inequality.
