TasteAtlas, the renowned global food guide, recently updated its list of the best-rated Filipino dishes on October 16, with chicken inasal emerging as the top choice. The Bacolod specialty earned 4.5 stars, being praised as a "unique Filipino grilled chicken dish" and the signature dish of the Visayas region.
TasteAtlas described the dish as consisting of various chicken cuts marinated in a blend of vinegar, lemongrass, garlic, and ginger, creating a flavorful and aromatic experience. Iconic chicken inasal spots such as Aida's Manokan and Nena's Beth at Manokan Country in Bacolod, along with other favorites like Island Chicken Inasal in Bulabog and Balay Dako in Tagaytay, were also recommended.
Following chicken inasal in the rankings were lechon in second place, leche flan in third, bulalo in fourth, and lumpiang shanghai rounding out the top five. Other Filipino favorites that made the list include sinigang na baboy, tortang talong, lechon kawali, bicol express, and arroz caldo.
TasteAtlas explained that the rankings were based on over 3,845 verified ratings from its users, excluding nationalistic or patriotic biases.
In contrast, the food guide also released a list in September of the "worst Filipino dishes," with controversial items like balut, inipit, pinipig, biko, and pinikpikan making the cut.
Chicken inasal’s high ratings proves the growing recognition of Filipino cuisine globally, with traditional favorites continuing to resonate with food lovers around the world.
