This year’s National Day celebrations in China saw technology take centre stage, with a dazzling drone performance over Shenzhen stealing the spotlight. A fleet of 10,200 drones lit up the night sky in a mesmerising “cyber firework” display, earning Damoda—China’s leading drone light show company—not one, but two Guinness World Records: the most drones airborne simultaneously from a single computer (outdoors), and the largest aerial image formed by multirotors.

The feat, however, was far from straightforward. On 26 September, as Damoda’s team prepared for launch, strong winds and ionospheric interference threatened to derail the performance. But with precision engineering, advanced clustering technology, and years of flight expertise, the team executed a flawless launch. Of the 10,200 drones deployed, 10,197 met the stringent criteria set by Guinness World Records adjudicators and expert witnesses—securing both titles.

Beyond the spectacle, the event underscored Damoda’s leadership in drone innovation. Their proprietary clustering system pushed the boundaries of communication protocols and computing power, while their virtualization technology enabled seamless control over thousands of units—laying the groundwork for even larger-scale performances.
