The Department of Tourism (DOT) recently welcomed the Board of Trustees and officials of the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (NAITAS) during a courtesy visit with Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco at the DOT Central Office on November 13. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to advancing Philippine tourism through strategic partnerships and forward-thinking initiatives.
Secretary Frasco commended NAITAS for its pivotal role in strengthening the Philippines’ global tourism presence, particularly through challenges such as the pandemic. NAITAS leaders highlighted their upcoming Travel and Trade Show - Cebu Edition 2024, set for December, with the theme “Hub for Tourism, Trade, Innovation, and Technology.” This event aims to spotlight Cebu as a key destination for tourism and trade. The association also emphasized its focus on expanding Golf Tourism, a promising niche for the industry.
The meeting was attended by DOT officials, including Undersecretaries Shahlimar Hofer Tamano and Ferdinand Jumapao, as well as Directors Arlene Alipio and Glenn Albert Ocampo. Representing NAITAS were President Racquel Sabucido, Past President Loida Abrenica, Immediate Past President Florence Rivera, Treasurer Angel Inton, Board of Trustees members Anita Refrea, Myra Roldan, Aileen Pamintuan, Pia Moenifakdavoud, NCR Central Chapter Vice President Brian Pascual, NCR South Chapter President Ma. Theresa Chaves, NCR North Chapter President Cecilia Ramos, Pampanga-Tarlac Chapter President Josalyn Lomarda, and other regional leaders. Also present was Experience Travel & Living, NAITAS's official media partner, represented by Ana Manansala.
The strong synergy between NAITAS, the largest association of independent travel agencies in the Philippines, and DOT presents their shared dedication to building a resilient, innovative, and sustainable tourism ecosystem. The NAITAS delegation included President Racquel Sabucido, past and current officers, and chapter representatives.
