MANILA — GCash, a leading fintech platform under Ayala Group, will undergo temporary downtime for system maintenance on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. The announcement was made on the company’s official Facebook page, where users were advised to plan transactions ahead to avoid inconvenience.
GCash, operated by Mynt, has become a dominant player in the digital payments space in the Philippines, boasting 94 million users as of October 2024. This figure represents about eight out of ten Filipinos, underscoring its extensive reach and popularity.
Globe Telecom, the parent company of Mynt, has reiterated its intention to list GCash on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). However, the timeline for the initial public offering (IPO) remains uncertain due to external factors such as global economic challenges, including trade tensions linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policies.
Despite these hurdles, Globe Telecom and Mynt continue to focus on expanding GCash’s presence while maintaining service quality and operational reliability. As part of these efforts, the scheduled maintenance is seen as a move to ensure the platform's smooth performance and security.
Passengers and users of GCash are encouraged to complete their transactions ahead of the downtime. The maintenance period highlights GCash's commitment to enhancing its digital infrastructure as it solidifies its role in the country's growing fintech ecosystem.
