Commuters relying on the Glorietta–UP Town Center point-to-point (P2P) bus service received disappointing news this week, as DNS P2P Bus announced the temporary suspension of the route effective November 22, 2024.
The suspension, announced via a Facebook post, has left regular riders scrambling for alternative transportation. While no specific reason was given, DNS P2P hinted at challenges in maintaining the route, leading many to speculate that financial difficulties may be a factor.
In their statement, DNS P2P expressed gratitude to its loyal passengers
“We have loved being part of your daily journeys, whether it was getting you to work, school, or home. Seeing familiar faces board our buses and hearing your stories has always made the challenge worthwhile.
“But as we want to continue, it has become too hard for us to keep this route going, and with a heavy heart, we have to take a break for now.”
A Vital Commuter Link
The Glorietta–UP Town Center route has been an essential connection between two bustling areas of Metro Manila—Makati’s commercial district and Katipunan’s education hub. Its suspension is expected to disrupt the daily routines of commuters, particularly those who relied on the convenience and directness of the P2P service.
With the route temporarily unavailable, passengers will need to explore alternative transportation options. For those affected, now is the time to identify other bus routes, ride-sharing services, or combinations of jeepneys, UV Express vans, and MRT-3 or LRT-2 lines to reach their destinations.
Call for Community Solutions
In the same post, DNS P2P encouraged passengers to share suggestions and advice for alternate routes in the comments section. Riders are hopeful that a solution—whether temporary or long-term—can address the gap left by the suspension.
While the route’s return remains uncertain, DNS P2P’s heartfelt message has left commuters optimistic about a potential resumption in the future. In the meantime, passengers are advised to plan their travel routes ahead and stay updated through DNS P2P’s official social media channels.
The Glorietta–UP Town Center P2P service was a reliable mode of transportation for many, and its absence underscores the challenges of sustaining dedicated public transport routes in Metro Manila.
