Jeju Air, South Korea's leading low-cost carrier, is expanding its international flight offerings at Muan International Airport (MWX) as part of its Northern Winter 2024/25 schedule. Starting December 10, 2024, the airline will introduce new direct flights from Muan to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, and Nagasaki, Japan, giving travelers more options for winter holiday getaways.
Muan to Kota Kinabalu Route
The new route to Kota Kinabalu, a popular tourist destination in Malaysia known for its stunning beaches and rich cultural experiences, will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays using a Boeing 737-800. Flights will depart from Muan at 19:50 (Tuesday) and 20:50 (Friday), arriving in Kota Kinabalu late in the evening. Return flights will depart from Kota Kinabalu in the early hours, giving travelers a convenient connection between South Korea’s southwest region and Southeast Asia’s tropical beauty.
Muan to Nagasaki Route
Jeju Air will also introduce a three-times-weekly service between Muan and Nagasaki, Japan, starting on the same date. Flights will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, allowing passengers to explore Nagasaki’s historical landmarks and scenic coastal views. With flights operating at convenient times, this route is expected to appeal to both leisure and business travelers.
Broader Strategy
This expansion is part of Jeju Air’s strategy to enhance international connectivity from South Korea’s regional airports, providing more affordable and convenient travel options. These new routes will allow passengers to explore two popular destinations in Japan and Southeast Asia during the 2024/25 winter season, further solidifying Muan Airport as a growing hub for international travel.
With the addition of these flights, travelers can now enjoy easy access to Mount Kinabalu, pristine islands, and the vibrant cultural scene of Kota Kinabalu, as well as the rich history and beautiful landscapes of Nagasaki.
