The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) continues to lead the charge for inclusivity and diversity within government institutions, anchored by the remarkable partnership of its Executive Director, Atty. Robert “Bob” D. Peig, CESO V, and LGBTQIA+ Association organizer, Ms. Bemz Dumlao Benedito. Both proud natives of Abra, Atty. Peig and Ms. Benedito share a deep commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals within the agency and beyond.

The LTFRB LGBTQIA+ Association, a pioneering initiative conceived by Atty. Peig, was established to provide a robust support system for LGBTQIA+ employees and community members. This initiative marked a historic milestone as the first LGBTQIA+ association within the Department of Transportation (DOTr). Atty. Peig’s leadership is rooted in his belief that “respect should transcend gender, focusing on humanity above all.”

This vision came to life through collaborative efforts with Ms. Bemz Dumlao Benedito, a tireless advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and visibility. Each November 20, the association honors lives lost to transphobia-related violence during the International Transgender Day of Remembrance. Beyond internal programs, the association actively engages with external communities. The “Puso ng Pasko” program exemplifies this commitment, as LTFRB employees partnered with Barangay 76, Tondo, for a gift-giving event benefiting over 150 residents. By collaborating with Sangguniang Kabataan officials and other stakeholders, the association highlighted the importance of social responsibility and inclusivity.
