Top executives from Regal Hotels International, one of the largest hotel operators in Hong Kong, recently went to the Philippines and sat down with the local media to let more Filipino travelers know more about the hotel chain.
According to Peter Chiu, General Manager of Regal Riverside Hotel and Vice President – Project, Regal Hotels International, all principal destinations in Hong Kong are serviced by the Regal brand of 5-star hotels, including its select service hotel called iclub.
At present, there are 5 Regal (Regal Airport Hotel, Regal Hongkong Hotel, Regal Kowloon Hotel, Regal Oriental Hotel and Regal Riverside Hotel) and 5 iclub (iclub Fortress Hill, iclub Ma Tau Wai, iclub Mong Kok, iclub Sheung Wan, and iclub Wan Chai) hotels in Hong Kong, Regal SkyCity is currently under construction and slated to open next year while iclub Sheung Wan II Hotel will open this year.
“We came to the Philippines to invite Filipinos to go to Hong Kong and hopefully, once they visit, they will choose Regal or iclub. We really want Filipinos to get to know and experience more of us as we also want to get to know more of them,” explains Chiu in front of a select group of print and online media.
Chiu bared that Regal Hotels are not so well known in the Philippines so they visited the country to get the word out to many Filipinos who may visit Hong Kong soon. “We believe we have the right price range for the Filipino market, rooms fit for families or small groups. We are the only hotel chain with a direct shuttle bus from the airport to every one of our hotels to provide that extra convenience,” Chiu added.
For his part, Peter Martin, General Manager of Regal Hong Kong Hotel, the group’s flagship property in Hong Kong, introduced iclub, the group’s select service hotel. He said the concept of iclub is that all were built near the MTR or Mass Transit Railway, Hong Kong’s major public transport network.
“It means that depending on wherever you are doing business or leisure, within 2-3 minutes, you are already at an iclub hotel within the MTR route system and be anywhere in HK within 15-20 minutes,” Martin said.
Regal and iclub hotels have a lot to offer for any leisure or business traveler. Martin said that with Regal, visitors get a full-service hotel that’s great for families to give them a one-of-a-kind experience. iclub, on the other hand, caters to young travelers who travel light and wouldn’t want to pay for facilities they won’t use because they’re always out exploring the city anyway.
Chiu echoed what Martin said about Regal and iclub. He said many of today’s younger travelers, he said, like simple rooms because they stay practically outside the hotel and would only eat breakfast there, so they came up with iclub, which is essentially clean and simple. Regal is a more complete hotel in terms of amenities like spa, pool, restaurants, gym.
“Whatever hotel that you choose under the Regal group, we assure you that you get your money’s worth because you get superb facilities and services,” Chiu added.
Regal Riverside Hotel is situated overlooking the picturesque Shing Mun River in Shatin in Hong Kong, with 1,138 well-equipped guestrooms and suites including the Executive Club floor, 13 function room and 2 grand ballrooms that can accommodate 600 persons each with 11 restaurants and bars, including a Regal Patisserie. Room categories include triple and quadruple rooms for single or groups of travelers.
Regal Hongkong Hotel is at the heart of Causeway Bay, one of the most popular commercial and shopping districts in the island, just 3 minutes’ walk from MTR Causeway Bay Station and 5 minutes’ drive from the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. It has 481 luxurious guestrooms and suites equipped with WiFi internet connectivity, an Executive Club floor with 81 stylish Executive Club rooms and suites with exclusive privileges, 20 function rooms including a grand ballroom with a maximum capacity of 380 persons, 4 restaurants and a Regal Patisserie from contemporary Italian cuisine at Alto 88 to the award-winning Cantonese cuisine at Regal Palace, or casual dining at Café Rivoli to the classical Tiffany Lounge.
