In recent years, travel from the Philippines to Taiwan has continued to grow steadily. According to the latest statistics from the Taiwan Tourism Administration, 557,230 Filipino visitors traveled to Taiwan in the first 11 months of 2025, representing a 34% increase compared to 415,635 visitors during the same period in 2024. The Philippines has remained Taiwan’s largest source market in Southeast Asia, with Taiwan ranking as the fourth most popular outbound travel destination for Filipino travelers.

To further expand the summer inbound tourism market, the Tourism Administration has brought together 30 organizations and 53 representatives, including the Taoyuan City Government, leisure farms, travel agencies, hotels, and airlines, to form a Taiwan tourism delegation. The delegation will participate in the 33rd PTAA Travel Tour Expo. from February 6 to 8, followed by Taiwan tourism promotion events in Manila and Clark. Through ongoing promotion of the Taiwan Lantern Festival, Michelin Bib Gourmand–recommended cuisine, diverse seasonal landscapes, and a travel environment that is convenient and safe day and night, Filipino travelers are invited to travel visa-free to Taiwan and explore the unique charm of its many cities.

The Taiwan Pavilion at this year’s expo continues to highlight and further develop the “Taiwan—Waves of Wonder” Tourism 3.0 brand, integrating mountain and ocean scenery with night tourism elements to create a joyful atmosphere that showcases Taiwan as a destination that is fun day and night, with nonstop appeal. To promote tourism in central, southern, and eastern Taiwan, multiple iconic photo zones have been specially designed, presenting seasonal highlights such as spring blossoms, summer beaches, autumn maple leaves, and winter hot springs. For the first time, the Alishan Forest Railway has been brought into a Philippine travel expo, offering visitors an immersive photo experience and drawing strong on-site interest.

During the expo, a series of cultural performances and interactive activities will be featured, including drum performances, diabolo (Chinese yo-yo) shows, traditional dough figurine making, tile-painted brooch DIY workshops, and herbal jelly milk tasting sessions. For the first time, Philippine champion bartender Joel Delos Santos will join Taiwanese champion bartender Chen Wu-liang in a Taiwan–Philippines flair bartending performance inspired by pineapple cakes. In addition, influencer Kookoo Macasaet will share her travel experiences in Taiwan. These highlights are expected to attract significant attention and further position Taiwan as a top travel choice among Filipino visitors.

The Taiwan Pavilion is projected to generate more than NTD 15 million in inbound tourism revenue. To further strengthen the Taiwan–Philippines tourism industry exchange platform, the delegation will host B2B Taiwan tourism promotion events on February 9 at Seda Manila Bay and on February 10 at the SMX Convention Center Clark. More than 270 Philippine travel industry professionals, airline representatives, and local media are expected to attend. By showcasing Taiwan’s latest travel highlights and promotional offers, these events aim to facilitate industry matchmaking and collaboration, steadily expand the Philippine market, and create new momentum for Taiwan’s southbound tourism development.

With its close proximity to the Philippines, a flight time of just around two hours, visa-free entry, and a rich variety of cuisine and distinctive attractions, Taiwan has recently received extensive media coverage in the Philippines, once again igniting strong interest in travel to Taiwan. On the 8th of this month, Manila Bulletin columnist Jullie Yap Daza shared her experiences of Taipei’s convenient shopping environment and pleasantly mild winter climate, while GMA News Online reported on the 10th that Taiwan is a “paradise for food lovers”—all key factors drawing Filipino travelers to Taiwan.

Looking ahead, the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival will be held in Chiayi County from March 3 to 15. To encourage Filipino visitors to travel to Taiwan for this major annual cultural event, the Tourism Administration continues to offer a buy-one-get-one-free Taiwan High Speed Rail ticket promotion, encouraging travelers to extend their journeys from entry points such as Taipei and Taoyuan to Chiayi. Visitors are invited to experience Taiwan’s unique Lantern Festival traditions and vibrant night tourism. At the same time, the Taiwan Tourism Information Center in Manila will collaborate with well-known Philippine influencers and digital social media platforms to promote Taiwan’s cuisine, cultural festivals, natural scenery, flower-viewing experiences, and diverse, friendly travel environment—highlighting Taiwan as a destination that is safe, convenient, and full of warm hospitality, and further driving growth in Filipino arrivals to Taiwan.
