Manila, Philippines - At the 2025 TravMedia Summit Asia held in Singapore last October 13, global tourism leaders gathered to spotlight one of the fastest-growing travel trends: wellness tourism. With the industry projected to double in value to $1.3 trillion (₱75 trillion) by 2028, the conversation centered on how travel is increasingly becoming a path to personal well-being.

Moderated by Singaporean host-actor Paul Foster, the summit opened with a breathwork session before diving into a panel discussion featuring Flex Studio’s Heather Thomas, Six Senses’ Mark Sands, Four Seasons’ Peter Draminsky, and Oster Group’s Dr. Tsin Uin Foong.

The panelists explored how wellness tourism has evolved post-pandemic—from reactive healthcare to proactive, lifestyle-driven choices. Dr. Foong emphasized the shift from treating illness to embracing preventive care, while Thomas noted that travelers today are more mindful and present, seeking deeper daily fulfillment.

Sands highlighted that wellness travelers aim to maintain healthy habits even while on the road, from curated meals to intentional activities. Draminsky added that indulgence has transformed into a sustainable lifestyle, with wellness now embedded in everyday choices.

Emerging Trends in Wellness Travel:

  • Tourists are seeking science-backed, personalized experiences.

  • Facilities like the Chi Longevity Clinic at Four Seasons offer holistic support beyond traditional appointments.

  • The line between business travelers and wellness tourists is blurring, with both prioritizing sleep, nutrition, and recovery.

Thomas introduced the concept of “flow-state”—a heightened focus that business travelers strive for through consistent routines and better sleep. Sands and Draminsky agreed that performance optimization is key for urban wellness programming.

As the wellness tourism sector continues to expand, the summit underscored a global shift: travel is no longer just about escape—it’s about intentional living.
