A Legacy of warm hospitality at Taal Vista Hotel

Through the decades, Taal Vista Hotel remains one of the most visited landmarks in Tagaytay City. Aside from offering a stunning unobstructed vista of the Taal Volcano and surrounding Taal Lake from its view deck, the iconic destination offers an accessible respite from city life with its cool climate that is perfect for nature walks and comfortable accommodations within a hotel that holds so much history under its emblematic gables.

As the country slowly and safely opens up from the pandemic, Taal Vista Hotel is again open to cater to guests who want to experience relaxing amid the wonders of nature. The 83-year-old hotel’s luxe rooms and amenities have been constantly updated to suit the needs of the modern leisure and business traveler. Taal Vista Hotel has 262 well-appointed accommodations at the Great Wing, the Mountain Wing, and the Lake Wing. Each room is designed to offer an elegant feel and an opportunity to relax and unwind in the utmost comfort.

Activities within the property include swimming in the pool, working out at the gym, and taking a stroll along the view deck while taking photos for their mementos among well-placed installations such as hammocks, swings, and a life-sized picture frame. Thrill-seekers should note that the hotel has access to the Sky Ranch amusement park next door, and they can purchase entrance tickets at discounted prices at the hotel, and no longer have to queue for entry.

Those who want to imbibe more of the hotel’s heritage and Tagaytay’s culture can book a History Walk, which is a package that includes a guided tour along with the property. Guests can view a gallery of photographs that document the hotel’s storied past along with interesting facts about Tagaytay and Taal.

Exciting dining options

The Veranda is a dining destination not only for its array of Filipino food choices along for international dishes for its extensive buffet. Weekend dining comes with a cultural presentation that gives a taste of local culture through song and dance numbers.

Taza Fresh Table highlights more Continental flavors, with New York-trained Chef Jayme Natividad’s signature salads, steaks, and pasta along with a new breakfast menu where the chef playfully infuses intriguing flavors and ingredients to bring out the best of mornings: Tapang Barako (hanging tender seasoned with coco amino acids and coco sugar and Barako coffee), Chicken Tocino (cured in beetroot instead of the usual preservatives), and Chicken Longanisa which he spikes with turmeric.

Families can avail of the glam picnic package, where they can enjoy a leisurely repast of good food in a picture-perfect setting on the grassy knoll. “This is something new for families to enjoy, as we want the younger generations to experience the wide-open spaces we have at Taal Vista,” shares General Manager Ramon Makilan. Menu choices include picnic faves such as pizzas and cold cuts or an elegant high tea set for a memorable bonding activity.

Another new attraction is a cool hangout spot for couples or groups of friends who want to dine and drink under the stars with a view of the city lights. The hotel’s The Ridge serves food and drinks in the view deck area, accompanied by live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights and house music on Sundays. It is a perfect place to unwind with cocktails or beers matched with signature favorites from the Veranda restaurant.

Those who want to level up their dining experience can likewise enjoy a dinner under the gazebos on the landscaped garden that sits atop the view deck. The elegant set-up can accommodate up to 10 persons, with menu choices from the hotel’s Taza Fresh Table restaurant.

Taal Vista Hotel remains a top choice for destination weddings and special events in Tagaytay. The facilities and grounds are perfect for romantic pre-nuptial photo shoots, garden weddings, and intimate outdoor celebrations among the wonders of nature.

Safe stays

Guests are assured of their safety during their relaxing stay. “We follow government regulations from the IATF, the Department of Health, and the Department of Tourism,” says Makilan. “We also have a Sustainably Safe program under the SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation, where we go beyond the government to ensure that our stay-in and dining guests are well-protected. We only accept fully-vaccinated guests, so vaccination cards are required upon entry. All rooms are cleaned according to our hotel standards, and then sanitized using electrostatic sprayers and UV disinfection lamps before the next guest's check-in.”

To also ensure the safety of guests as they enjoy the view of the Taal Lake and the volcano, the hotel management is also constantly monitoring updates from the DOST-PHIVOLCS for any activity from the smallest volcano in the Philippines. With every precaution taken care of, it’s easy to relax and enjoy your stay.

After staying indoors for so long, it’s time to rekindle those childhood memories of road trips with the family to Tagaytay and create new ones while bonding with family and friends over the new exciting activities that are available at Taal Vista Hotel.
