Manila, Philippines — The National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) has confirmed that the Philippines now officially has 7,641 islands, following the latest satellite mapping update. This marks a significant increase from the long-accepted count of 7,107 islands.

Using advanced satellite technology, NAMRIA identified hundreds of previously unrecorded islets scattered across the archipelago. Most of these are small, uninhabited, and located in remote waters, ranging from pristine white-sand stretches to hidden lagoons.

This updated count reinforces the Philippines’ reputation as a true paradise of islands, each contributing to the nation’s natural beauty and biodiversity.
